Hannes Astok is the\u00a0Executive Director\u00a0and\u00a0Chairman of the Management Board\u00a0at the e-Governance Academy.\u00a0He is an enthusiastic speaker for the information society, especially promoting the role of local governments and challenges of mobile governance and new technologies in government.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the last years, he has been working closely with the governments of Ukraine, Dominica, Mongolia, Namibia, Barbados, Kiribati, Vanuatu, Kyrgyzstan, Papua New Guinea, Uzbekistan, Samoa, Georgia, Jamaica, Moldova, and Sri Lanka, among others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hannes served as Member of the Estonian Parliament (Riigikogu) in 2007-2011, where he mainly dealt with the development of information society and issues related to regulation of intellectual property and electronic communication. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2012-13, Hannes was Adviser to the President of Estonia on Information Society development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
