The EU4DigitalUA project announces the delivery of state-of-the-art equipment to the State Service for Special Communication and Information Protection of Ukraine (SSSCIP), significantly enhancing the National Telecommunication Network (NTN). Amidst Russia’s full-scale war against Ukraine and escalating cyber threats, this equipment will fortify Ukraine’s emergency response capabilities and ensure the continuous operation of state information systems and registers.
Head of Good Governance and Rule of Law Section Xavier Camus, Delegation of the European Union to Ukraine, stated, “The European Union remains firmly committed to standing with Ukraine during these challenging times of full-scale war. Our steadfast support extends to the crucial area of cybersecurity through our flagship programme, EU4DigitalUA. By working hand in hand with Ukraine, we aim to strengthen its digital infrastructure, safeguard its critical information resources, and protect the well-being of its citizens. Together, we will continue to build a secure and resilient digital future for Ukraine and the European Union.”
The provided equipment includes power units, switches and routers, as well as other hardware and software. All of this will enable further enhancement of the NTN and strengthen its resilience in the face of war and numerous missile and drone attacks on Ukrainian infrastructure.
According to Deputy Chairman of the State Service of Special Communications and Information Protection of Ukraine, Oleksandr Potii, the provided equipment will allow the National Telecommunication Network to continue its development even in these difficult times. Thanks to this, Ukrainian state authorities and institutions will have reliable and uninterrupted communication, will be able to fulfill their functions, and will provide public services to millions of Ukrainian citizens and businesses. This expansion will improve resilience, throughput, and the overall volume of services provided, guaranteeing a high level of information protection and the delivery of excellent electronic and offline services to citizens.
The EU4DigitalUA project continues to actively cooperate with Ukraine, promoting the development and improvement of the country’s cybersecurity infrastructure, protecting state information resources, and improving the quality of digital services for the population.
Maria Gaston Betran, FIIAPP Technical Institutional Coordinator of EU4DigitalUA, emphasised, “The EU4DigitalUA project recognizes the immense importance of enhancing and securing the National Telecommunication Network for the people of Ukraine. This activity, being one of the most significant in terms of budget allocation within our project, truly highlights the crucial role cybersecurity plays in ensuring the safety and stability of the country’s digital infrastructure. We are proud to support Ukraine in its efforts to bolster its cybersecurity defenses and are committed to fostering a resilient, interconnected digital landscape that benefits citizens and businesses alike.”
